TRAVEL PLANS

Tim and DeAnn Madden (Class of 1979) have opened an on-line travel business "All Madden Travel" partnering with a company called Your Travel Biz (YTB)!

YTB began operations in 2001 and is a publicly traded company (YTBLA).
YTB partners with travel vendors such as Travelocity and Hotels.com to create a bigger piece of the internet pie, and get the best prices for their customers.

DeAnn has been in the Travel industry for 28 years and has seen the ways booking travel has changed, with more and more people using the internet to compare prices and book their own travel.  “We are excited to be able to offer you, what we believe to be, the best on-line travel resource on the market.”

Not only can you book airline, hotels, car rentals, cruises, vacation packages
and group bookings, you can also go to the "extras" tab and take a look at the
other on line services we offer including travel insurance, buying foreign currency,
passport applications, theme park tickets, sporting events, concerts and even flowers!  It is truly "one-stop shopping" at its finest.  As a travel resource, you will also be able to get driving directions, the weather, travel and health advisories, airport information, and even a world time zone map.

On their travel website, if you add your name and e-mail address to
their “Deals and Steals", each week you will receive an e-mail announcing their 5 best travel deals.  Don't forget to add their e-mail address:
allmaddentravel@yahoo.com  to your address book so the newsletter won't be recognized as SPAM e-mail.  If for some reason you wish to stop the weekly e-mails, there is a place to click to remove yourself from the list.

Please "bookmark" their website or add it to your "favorites" for easier
access!  www.allmaddentravel.com

Alumni Members Pass Away

Class of 1970: McAdams, Danny.  We just heard about the passing of Danny McAdams.  He used to live on Julio Avenue in San Jose.  In High School he hung around with his friends Donna King, Craig McAbee, Peggy Ogilvie, and others.  Like all the other alumni who have passed away, he was too young and will be missed.

Class of 1971: Bailey, Rebecca.  We are sorry to announce the passing of Rebecca Bailey, also known as Rebecca Spliethof, Class of 1971.  She was killed in a car accident on October 20th, 2004.  She is remembered as never saying unkind things to anyone; never holding resentments; being in so many ways very childlike and innocent.  The world will miss her.  Our thoughts and prayers are with her family.

Class of 1972: We have also lost 2 classmates in 2002 from the class of 1972. Greg Tomko passed away from pancreatic cancer and Kerry Delaney (Sr. Class President) on May 6, 2002 from Esophogeal Cancer.  Are sympathy to their families.

Class of 1977: Richardson (King), Deborah Lynne.   Debbie passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2008 at 6:25 pm in her home. She was surrounded in her last moments by her loving husband John, son Kevin and close friends and family. She bravely fought breast cancer in 2001 only to have the disease return in early 2006. With the same determination that she showed in all aspects of her life she underwent rounds of chemotherapy and radiation treatments with a strength that amazed us all. Throughout these years she maintained her spirit and love of life.  She will be missed.

More detailed write-up and picture:  Debbie Write-up   Picture

Class of 1981: Dennis Warren Deisenroth, Jr. 'Duggie'
Born in San Jose on April 11, 1963, Dennis passed from this earth on July 13, 2007 as a result of a tragic boating accident on Huntington
Lake
in Lake Shore, California.  He leaves behind his loving family, his much loved children Jenessa and Eric, his sisters Amy and Lisa and his Dad and Mom, Dennis and Louise.  He is also survived by aunts and uncles Marty and Bob Martin, Laurie and David Shields, Tina Reza, George and Suzanne Burrell.  His cousins Brian and Steve Martin, Kyle and Christa Rogers, Addie Reza, Gabriel, Jason, Cora, Cody and Ellie Burrell.

He was a 1981 graduate of Branham
High School, after several years of pursuing various work endeavors he decided to pursue his love of cooking and he enrolled in the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco graduating with an Associate in Culinary Arts degree in April 1997. He worked in local restaurants, including the Wyndham Hotel, Tarragon, Ragusa, Los Gatos Brewing Company and The Basin in Saratoga.  He relocated for a time to Southern California and worked at Fleming's Steakhouse in Newport Beach and more recently worked at Drinkwater's in Scottsdale Arizona.

Dennis was an avid sports fan. His favorite teams were the 49ers, Giants and Sharks. There wasn't a sport he did not enjoy, but after football and baseball he loved horse racing.  While doing some consulting work, he was thrilled to have had the opportunity to visit Kentucky the home of thoroughbred racing.

Dennis was one of a kind, he always did it his way.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to a trust fund, which is being established, for his children would be greatly appreciated.
There was a celebration of Dennis's life on Saturday July 21st at the family home at 1536 Puerto Vallarta Drive, San Jose
, CA 95120. If you have questions you may email dennisdeisenroth@sbcglobal.net.

Class of 1984: Johnson, Rod.  We are sorry to announce the passing of Rod Johnson, Class of 1984.  Rod Johnson was born on Oct. 18, 1965 and died on May 20, 2003. Rod was 37 years old.  Rod loved Branham and all of you. He wouldn't want you to miss any future reunions. He often talked of going to the next reunion (the 20 year). You know him - he just loved being around people; dancing, talking and laughing.  He had an infectious laugh.  He was the kindest, funniest, and friendliest, most out going person I had ever met. Actually I learned a lot from him. My only hope is that he knew what an impact he made on so many others lives. But I don't think he did. I don't think he knew what a special man he really was. I miss him, and he will be missed at the reunions to come. He loved everyone, and he loved high school. How many people can say that? He talked of our class often; even back to grammar school (Steindorf).  Not many people can light up a room just by walking in it like he did.

Rod was a native of San Jose who graduated from Branham High School in 1984, he received his AA degree at West Valley before attending San Jose State. He was an employee of Safeway for many years where he was an assistant manager.

In 1999 Rod moved to Los Angeles where he was employed as manager of a retail chain.

Rod is survived by his father and step mother, Raymond and Bonte Johnson, his brother and sister, Ramon Johnson and Kimberly Mills, his step brother and step sister Jim and Dianne Hageman, and his two nieces, Chante and Renee Mills.
You can see his picture on the Class of '84 website under Memories www.84Bruins.com

Class of 1984: Castleton, David.  G. David Castleton, Age 38, passed from this life on April 9, 2004. He was born in Sacramento. He spent most of his life in San Jose. He is survived by his wife Anne Ososkie Castleton, son Tyler Scott Evans, parents Marilyn Johnson and Gary Castleton, step-parents Brent and Ruth, brother Daniel, sisters Amy, Laura, Denise, Heidi, Melissa, Rachael, and Debbie, brothers-in-law Mike, David, Uwe, Anthony, and Jerry, adoring nieces and nephews: Karen, Jenny, Davey, Persephone, Jakob, Adam, Maya, Ashley, and Avery, grandparents Don & Marie Call and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.  You can see his picture on the Class of '84 website under Memories www.84Bruins.com

Class of 1989: Lynch, Shawna.  We are sorry to announce the passing of Shawna Michelle Lynch, Class of 1989.  After a valiant 20-year struggle with mental illness, Shawna returned to her Heavenly Father on April 29, 2005, at the age of 34. She was born December 7, 1970, in San Diego MF, to Michael and Merrilyn Lynch of Smithfield, Utah. Shawna resided in Lehi, Utah, with her husband, David Nielson, and five children (Brendon, Kimber, Tyler, Christian, and Angelique). From a freckled-faced little girl who knew only how to skip or run, Shawna graced the world with her love and light. Her angelic voice was a gift that literally brought heaven to earth. Music was her venue to touch souls, which she expressed through composing songs, musicals, and performances. Her compassion was Christlike and often she would walk the journey with downtrodden and overlooked souls so they would not be alone. She truly understood the depths of human suffering and her ability to console and soothe those who were wounded was a unique gift. Shawna is survived by husband, David Nielson; her five children; her parents, Michael and Merrilyln Lynch; her sisters and brothers (Taunia, Cherie, Bryce, Ryan, Robin and Dusty); eight nieces and nephews; and extended family, Carl and Carol Nielson, Bruce, Sheila and Amy. Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at 11 a.m., in the Lehi 5th Ward LDS Church at 465 E. 300 North. Family and friends may call Tuesday evening 6-8 p.m. at the Wing Mortuary, 118 E. Main, Lehi; and, Wednesday, at the church one hour prior to services. Interment, Lehi City Cemetery. Shawna, we love you deeply.
Published in the Daily Herald on 5/2/2005.

"The adventures of Freddy Fisher"

"Most of us will complete twelve years of schooling, and some of us will go on for more.  It's very seldom in this entire period that we are fortunate enough to have a teacher who influences us and will stay in our minds for years to come.  A teacher who, through his dedication, generates such enthusiasm that he inspires students to seek knowledge.  Such a man is Mr. Fred Fisher, to whom we dedicate the 1969-1970 URSA MAIOR in the hope that he continue his pursuit of quality in education."
